Athletic Trainers in Nebraska usually need a Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification at the Healthcare Provider level. Required skills include; Adult, child and infant CPR, AED, and use of a bag-valve-mask. Some Athletic Trainers may also need a First Aid course as well, but this is determined by the employer.
Athletic Trainers in Nebraska are required to do the Basic Life Support level of CPR certification for Healthcare Providers that includes a practical skills evaluation through in person or blended training process. 100% online CPR will only be an option upon the discretion of the employer or institution and is not accepted by the state licensing department or for continuing education credits for Athletic Trainers.
Some employers may require a specific type of training, or may leave it up to the State’s requirement. If you are not certain of your employer's requirement, make sure to check with them about both the training type and the required course content.

ATs must have a current emergency cardiac care (ECC) certification in their BOC profile. Annually, ATs will be asked to upload their current ECC certification (card or certificate) or be prompted to confirm their current ECC certification.
ATs must be able to:Demonstrate ongoing certification in the competencies outlined in the BOC’s ECC guidelines.Maintain documentation for current and expired courses for up to two years after the reporting period.

The Nebraska Dept. of Health and Human Services adheres to the Board of Certification(BOC) requirement for Athletic Trainers to maintain CPR certification for Healthcare Providers with a practical skills component.
005. CONTINUING EDUCATION. On or before May 1 of each odd-numbered year, athletic trainers holding an active license in the State of Nebraska must complete at least 25 hours of acceptable continuing education hours during the preceding 24-month period and hold a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation for healthcare providers (CPR) certificate from a nationally recognized organization that issues the certificates. Documentation of current certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, Incorporated (BOC) will also meet the requirements for continuing education
